What Is Bitmado?
In short, Bitmado is a social network centered around sharing attractive images. Think of it as Reddit for wallpapers. You can share pictures that you think are cool, upvote ones from others that you like, and downvote ones that you don’t want to see show up on your device. Bitmado will then select one as your desktop background and cycle through the ones it thinks you will like, making sure to avoid the ones you don’t.
Sign In And Vote
You have the option to sign into the app using Facebook or Google+. You can use the app without doing so, but the vast majority of the functionality is disabled if you don’t. Once signed in, you can vote for the pictures you like, downvote the ones you don’t, and give “bumps” to those that you feel deserve greater exposure.
Set Your Wallpaper
You can set Bitmado as your wallpaper the same way you activate other live wallpapers. It will automatically pick an image and start shuffling, even if you’re logged off. Signing in isn’t even necessary if you just want a regularly changing wallpaper and don’t care about adding your own input. The downside to that is losing the ability to remove the wallpapers you don’t like. What you see is what you get.
If you are signed in and absolutely love a wallpaper, you have the option to stick it. This will prevent Bitmado from shuffling your background image until you unstick the image later on. You can also set your wallpaper to change once per day, every six hours, once an hour, or every time you unlock your phone.
Follow Images And Manage Your Profile
The wallpapers are organized into categories such as “nature,” “city,” “abstract,” and “random” that you can browse from the launch screen. These categories appear as tags at the bottom of any image you select, and clicking on them shows you a page filled with pictures tagged the same way. If you like what you see, you can follow the tag just as you would on a social network. Ironically, though, you can’t follow other users.
You can share your own images, and Bitmado will keep track of each of these on your user profile. This page will also display how many votes you receive, how many views you accrue over time, your bumps, and a link to view your Facebook or Google+ profile.
Final Thoughts
Bitmado isn’t going to revolutionize the way you look at your phone, but it may just save you the effort of searching the web for images yourself. At the very least, it’s fun to use. That’s more than most live wallpapers can say. If you already have a background that you don’t tire of, I wouldn’t suggest you replace it with Bitmado, but if you’re constantly searching for something new, this might just be the app for you.
