1. Check Internet Connection
Before you start troubleshooting, you must first rule out Internet issues. Start by opening a different website in your browser on the same device. If the website doesn’t open, there there’s high chance that the issue is your network. You’ll need to restart your router and check for loose wires to check whether the network is the issue. If the issue is still not resolved, contact your service provider.
2. Check Whether Facebook Is Down
There’s a chance that nothing is wrong on your end and that Facebook itself is down. To verify whether Facebook is facing an outage, open downdetector.com and type “Facebook.” Check Facebook’s outage status on the next page. Alternatively, you can search for “Facebook down” on Twitter to see if people are tweeting about it. Tip: learn how to search Twitter like a pro.
3. Set Correct Date and Time
Incorrect date and time can also be the cause of Facebook not working, as it makes connecting to Facebook servers difficult. As a result, you must correct the date and time on your computer. On a Windows computer, go to “Settings -> Time & language -> Date & time.” Set the right time and date. Tip: enable the toggle next to “Set time automatically” to allow your computer to retrieve the date and time automatically. On Mac, go to “Apple Menu -> System Preferences -> Date & time.”
4. Open in Incognito Mode or a Different Browser
If you notice no change with your Facebook, then you might want to try opening the website in Incognito mode. For the purposes of this article, we’re using the Chrome browser as an example. Use Ctrl + Shift + N on a Windows PC or Command+ Shift + N on Mac to open a new Incognito window in the browser. Similarly, you could try loading the Facebook page in a different browser on your computer. If the Facebook page opens in Incognito or a different browser, the problem is due to your existing browser. It could be a corrupted cache, settings, extensions, or an outdated version of the browser. Resolve these issues by following the steps below.
5. Clear Browser Cache
Often, websites do not load properly in a browser due to corrupted cache files. You must clear your browser’s cache to fix things when Facebook is not working.
6. Disable Extensions and Ad Blockers
Did you recently install any new extension or an ad blocker on your browser? It could be causing issues with the Facebook website. Try disabling the extensions to see whether those are responsible for Facebook not working.
7. Update Browser
An incompatible or outdated version of the browser can also cause problems, such as the Facebook website not loading. To fix it, you must update your browser. For example, typically, Chrome will auto-update itself, but to be sure, you must update it manually as shown below:
8. Reset Browser Settings
Finally, you should also try resetting your browser’s settings to restore them to their default values, disable extensions, and delete the cache, cookies, and other temporary site data. It will not affect your bookmarks, saved passwords, or history. To reset Chrome, follow these steps:

How to Fix Not Being Able to Log in to Facebook Account
If you are unable to log in to your Facebook account, make sure you are typing your password correctly and with capitals where needed. Do check Caps Lock to be sure it’s not enabled. Next, if you get errors, such as “login error” or “unexpected error,” then click on “Create account” instead of directly signing in and enter the same details as your current login. When you click the “Create” button, it will take you to your account. If that doesn’t help, you may want to attempt to reset your Facebook password. If you are still unable to log in, try to recover your Facebook account at https://facebook.com/login/identify.
How to Fix Facebook Marketplace Not Working
If you see the error “Marketplace isn’t available to you,” it’s primarily because Facebook Marketplace isn’t available in your country or your account doesn’t meet eligibility criteria, such as your age or if it’s a new account. Getting zero results for your search in Marketplace? Make sure you have entered the correct search term and verify that you are searching in the right city. If you are unable to change the marketplace city on your mobile, do it from your computer. If a listing disappears or doesn’t load, however, it could have been deleted by the seller.
