Do you need a phone wallpaper that automatically changes with the weather outside? We bring you the best live weather wallpaper apps for Android.

Our Selection Criteria

The apps on our updated list of live weather wallpaper apps have several thousand downloads on Google Play Store, with a rating of 4.0 and higher. None of them will cause you any eye strain as they blend very smoothly with the Android homescreen graphics. There may be a few intrusive ads, but they don’t interfere with the homescreen. Even so, they can be removed with a pro version. All these apps have been tried and tested for their claimed features.

1. Weather Live Wallpaper by Bastion7

Rating: (4 / 5)
Weather Live Wallpaper by Bastion7 supports both Portrait and Landscape modes and is therefore tablet-friendly. It supports accurate weather forecasts a number of days ahead of time. The big drawback is that unlike other apps in this list, the best weather change features are only unlocked in the Pro version, but you can always use the Free version to download a simple wallpaper and add it as a widget. The best part of this live weather app is that all the information you need is instantly accessible from a simple double tap. The sounds feel quite soothing depending on the time of the day. On the downside, the app has way too many advertisements (although they do not affect the performance), which can crash your device if it is low on RAM. This is a complaint that needs to be currently addressed by the developers.

2. Paperland Live Wallpaper

Rating: (4.2 / 5)
Paperland Live Wallpaper free and pro versions give accurate results powered by AccuWeather. It has many themes to choose from, which are cartoonish but pleasant on the eye. Whether you want cutouts of cars, buildings, trees, or clouds, you can use a “Randomize” feature to explore infinite new themes. It doesn’t matter if it is day or night, sunny or overcast: with Paperland, you get a pretty good idea of your immediate surroundings. The app’s only disadvantage is that most live weather statuses are locked in the pro option. However, if you combine the wallpaper with a suitable weather app widget, you won’t miss out on the numbers. You can choose from occasions such as Easter, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve to get a “real” live weather experience right on your device. On the Play Store, many reviewers seem impressed with how responsive the app is in changing the wallpaper according to actual weather conditions. Note: if your device displays a message that the app is not supported on the latest Android versions, it’s safe to ignore the warning, as it is simply not true.

3. Awesome Weather YoWindow + Live Wallpaper

Rating: (4.5 / 5)
If you want to replace a cartoonish background with something more scenic, give Awesome Weather YoWindow a try. With millions of installations and a very high rating on Play Store, this app is truly awesome in blending weather data with beautiful wallpapers. Whether the graphics are animated or still, you will love the app’s attention to detail. The app makes you feel right at home with several live landscapes, such as village, town, ocean, airport, valley, and beach. Each display is designed to give you a relaxed feeling. The instructiveness and accuracy is also a major plus. You can see where the rains and clouds are moving with radar maps, a Pro feature, all from the comfort of your phone without even double-tapping any icons. Through its non-cluttered design, Awesome Weather YoWindow weather app delivers everything you would need in a weather app.

4. Forest Live Wallpaper

Rating: (4.2 / 5)
Forest Live Wallpaper provides greenery and scenic visuals that adjust to the time of day and weather. It fetches its data from the Open Weather database. The weather and daylight changes accordingly to match the weather conditions. With graphics that include color settings and multisampling, you get truly astonishing scenery, which is very close to reality. The app supports customizable colors for the scenic elements, such as hills, trees, and mountains. There are theme variations for autumn, winter, and sunny skies. Depending on your mood, you can adjust them for more comfortability. The app also has a 3D parallax effect and shifts layers as the device is tilted.

5. Weather Live Wallpapers by SkySky

Rating: (4 / 5)
This highly-advanced app creates realistic on-screen animations based on sunshine, phases of the moon, and precipitation, giving you “sunrise, rainbow, birdsong and every sun glare!” This is as good as being outside. Weather Live Wallpaper by SkySky has several gorgeous scenes with different themes. Each has a vivid design to impress you with the attention to detail. If you’re using the free version, there is only one clear weather choice for live wallpaper, along with day and night without transitions. In the Pro version, all weather data can be seen directly on the wallpaper. It also allows you to customize the display of weather conditions on the wallpaper. The app used to have a superb landscape mode support which is missing now. We hope the app developers bring it back, as this defunct feature was a perfect fit for tablets. There is one good feature they have retained, though: weather prediction forecasts several days ahead of time. Because it uses multiple weather stations, the accuracy is better than other apps on this list.

1. Why is the Weather app not working on my latest Android device?

All the live weather wallpapers shared here work properly with Android 11 and Android 10. If you’re using a newer Android version, such as Android 12 that has just been released to the public, you might experience issues such as the Weather Widget app not working. This is a current bug that will be resolved soon. In the meantime, you can join Google Android 12 Beta, which would make the weather apps accessible on your device.

2. Which are the most accurate weather apps for Android?

Although the apps on our list give detailed weather summaries on your device homescreen, accuracy is not their strong suit. For more accuracy, go for Accuweather, The Weather Channel, or 1Weather.
